Hello,
My name is Jitka McGivney and I am a Physical Education Teacher. I believe that everybody is an athlete and my job is to find the sport your child will enjoy. Here in elementary school we start to form a foundation children can build on. Introducing them to a variety of fun physical activities and reinforcing the message that exercise is part of a healthy life will establish wholesome habits which will last a lifetime. Exercise does not only help to build strength and power, it also makes children smarter!
Dr. John Ratey, Harvard clinical psychiatry professor and author of A User’s Guide to the Brain, says:
“What makes us move is also what makes us think. Certain kinds of exercise can produce chemical alterations that give us stronger, healthier, and happier brains. A better brain is better to think, remember, and learn.”
